Hey, I’m Jason.
Part Engineer, Product Designer, EPM, and Technical Leader, I have a passion for turning ideas into mass-produced products…
My Approach
Fail Fast
At the core of my design philosophy is the belief that iteration is the foundation of innovation. I embrace the principle of "fail fast and often" because every misstep is an opportunity to refine and improve. By rapidly testing ideas, I can identify what works and what doesn’t, allowing for a quick pivot and adaptation. This process fosters creativity, encourages bold experimentation, and ensures that the final solution is both effective and resilient.
Ruthless Prioritization
I prioritize and reprioritize with ruthless precision. Design challenges are often complex and multifaceted, but focusing on what truly matters ensures that resources and efforts drive maximum impact. By continually assessing priorities, I stay aligned with goals, adapt to changing circumstances, and maintain forward momentum.
DFX
Scalability is always at the forefront of my design thinking. Whether crafting a system, a product, or a process, I aim to create solutions that grow seamlessly with the needs of the company and programs. Designing with scalability in mind, not only ensures long-term viability, but also minimizes rework and inefficiency as demands evolve.
Designed Collaboration and Accountability
Finally, I prioritize creating infrastructure that empowers collaboration and ownership. Great design is rarely a solo endeavor; it thrives on diverse perspectives and shared accountability. By building tools, processes, and frameworks that encourage teamwork, I enable individuals to contribute meaningfully and take pride in their roles. This collaborative spirit drives better outcomes and fosters a culture of shared success.
Work Experience
Juul Labs 7 years (Current Employment)
Staff NPI Program Lead 2 years
Senior Manager Mechanical NPI 1 year
Staff Mechanical Design Engineer 1 year
Senior Mechanical Design Engineer 1 year
Mechanical Design Engineer 2 years
At Juul, I am deeply engaged in every aspect of developing, launching, and sustaining innovative products. Currently, I lead a cross-functional engineering team as part of a New Product Introduction (NPI) program. Previously, I spearheaded the development and launch of the Juul 2 consumable, a key milestone in our product portfolio.
My involvement spans the entire product development lifecycle—from brainstorming and prototyping with hands-on tools like whiteboards and hot glue to shaping executive-level roadmap strategies and overseeing the detailed design and development of fully automated systems. This holistic approach ensures that I contribute meaningfully at every stage, driving innovation and operational excellence.
Apple Inc. 4 years 6 months
Manufacturing Design Engineer 3 years 8 months
Manufacturing Design Engineer Intern 3 months
Manufacturing Design SME Intern 7 months
I joined Apple as a Manufacturing Design Engineer (MDE), contributing to some of the company’s most iconic products. I played a pivotal role in the development of the first-generation apple watch housing, second-generation zirconia Apple Watch housing and led the full automated assembly efforts for the iPhone X, iPhone 11, and iPhone 13.
In my role as an MDE, I design and develop innovative manufacturing processes for mechanical enclosures, optimize existing workflows to improve yields, and test cost-effective solutions to drive efficiency. Additionally, I conduct comprehensive root-cause analyses of failures across a global supply chain, ensuring robust and reliable production at scale.
Hasbro Inc. 1 year
Advanced Robotics Intern
I was hired into a special projects department within Hasbro called the Advanced Technology and Innovation Dept. During my time at Hasbro I was given many responsibilities including inventing, prototyping, and presenting new toy ideas. I enjoyed leading brainstorms, working with marketing, programming servo models, working on next generation toy lines, and working with manufacturers in China.
Electron Coil 3 years 4 months
Mechanical Engineering Assistant/Machinist
At Electron Coil I had a unique position in the company that allowed me to work closely with the mechanical engineers in the design of tooling used in production. I operated the mill and metal lathe, as well as the sole operator of the CNC mill.
Empire Machine Tool 1 years 6 month
Machinist
Empire Machine Tool is a small machine shop where I learned how to skillfully operate a vertical mill, a metal lathe, and a CNC mill. I also learned how to write G-code and how to design and create repeatable manufacturing fixtures.

JUUL 2 Case Study
I lead the design of the JUUL 2 Consumable platform from concept through production into scaling. Building upon an enormous success of the original Juul Pod, Juul 2 targeted markets with a 1.8% nicotine cap. To Achieve a satisfying Nicotine experience this required more vapor per puff and as a result more e-liquid per pod. In addition we tackled advanced leak protection, anti-refill and anti-counterfeit measures, reduce part count, reduced BOM cost, enabled scalability, and reliability.
